Basketball tournament

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ninth Thonath Johnny Champions Trophy basketball tournament will be held at the GHSS ground, Kandasankadavu, near Thrissur, from September 14 to 19.

Seven teams will take part in the men’s section while five teams will lock horns in the women’s section. The tournament will be played on a league-cum-knock out format. The semifinals will be played on September 17 and 18th respectively while the final will be played on 19th.

The groupings:

Men: Pool ‘A’: Customs & Central Excise (Kochi), Mar Ivanios College (Thiruvananthapuram) and SB College (Changanassery).

Pool ‘B’: BSNL (Thiruvananthapuram), KSEB (Thiruvananthapuram), Sree Kerala Varma College (Thrissur) and SAI (Kozhikode).

Women: Pool ‘A’: KSEB (Thiruvananthapuram) and SAI (Thrissur).

Pool ‘B’: Centralised Sports Hostel (Kollam), St. Xavier’s College (Aluva) and Assumption College (Changanassery).
