Prince of Arcot re-elected president of Dargah committee
Special Correspondent
Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali
CHENNAI: The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, has been unanimously re-elected president of the Ajmer Dargah Committee, a statutory body of the Union government, for the year 2008-09.
Professor Ibrahim, from the Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi, was elected vice-president of the committee at a recent meeting in Delhi.
The other members on the nine-member panel remain unchanged.
In a press note, the Nawab said he and the other panel members had met the Union Minister for Minority Affairs, A. R. Antulay, and discussed administrative aspects of the Dargah.
The Nawab apprised the Minister of the developmental activities, amenities, security and welfare schemes initiated at the shrine.
Mr. Antulay felicitated the Nazim of the Dargah Committee for being a recipient of an honour instituted by the Rajasthan government for excellence in governing the Dargah — a memorial to the famed Sufi saint Hazrath Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.
