Terrorism conspiracy case suspect held

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: City police on Monday picked up Jaber, whose house in Saidabad was searched recently, in connection with a terrorism-related conspiracy case.

He would be produced before the court on Tuesday. Jaber is the son of Tehreek Tehfooz Shariat-e-Islam convenor Moulana Naseeruddin, was arrested by the Gujarat police in a criminal conspiracy case four years ago and lodged in jail there.

Jaber’s brother Raziuddin Nasir was arrested by the Karnataka police near Davanagiri few months ago on charge of being a terror suspect.

Police sources said that questioning Jaber had become crucial in the light of some clues given by Abul Basher whom the Gujarat police recently arrested in connection with Ahmedabad serial blasts. Basher earlier worked in a madrasa on the outskirts of Hyderabad and used to frequently meet Jaber and other youth in Saidabad locality.

It is learnt that investigators wanted to cross check on Basher’s antecedents by interrogating Jaber.
