TDP alleges misuse of power by YSR in helping the launch of ‘Sakshi’

Miffed at government’s inability to part details about investors in the daily

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam legislators have charged the government with adopting double standards by disallowing a discussion on the Telugu daily, Sakshi, owned by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s family.

Addressing a press conference, legislators N. Janardhan Reddy, K. Atchan Naidu and D. Umameswara Rao expressed surprise at the way the government claimed it would not be able to part with “simple information” on those who have invested in the daily. In contrast, the ruling party went all out in discussing every aspect of another Telugu daily, Eenadu and the group company Margadarsi Chit Fund, though they were both private entities. The government’s decision not to allow any discussion on Sakshi showed that it has a lot to hide they said. The Chief Minister has gone out of his way in misusing power to help the newspaper in granting licence.
