Turkish towel covers are provided to seats and the floor of aisle is remade
Divisional Railway Manager D. Kamilla explaining new features of the AC chair car of Janmabhoomi Express in the city on Monday. — VISAKHAPATNAM: With a view to making the journey of commuters in the AC chair car of Janmabhoomi Express running between Visakhapatnam and Secunderabad more ‘satisfying and comfortable’, the East Coast Railway Division has carried out a number of improvements to the AC Chair Car coaches. The Janmabhoomi Express has in all four AC car coaches and the redone first coach would be attached to the Janmabhoomi Express, which departs at the railway station here early morning on Tuesday. Giving details of the new improvements, the Divisional Railway Manager D. Kamilla said that besides gloss painting of exterior of the coach, the interior was also given a new look. Turkish towel covers were provided to seats and the floor of aisle was remade with designer PVC flooring. The general look of the toilets and better quality soap etc., were provided. Another important amenity is the audio system inside the coach. This would be operated by the AC mechanic and light instrumental music would be played. There would be no change in the fare and only additional facilities were provided, he said. Garib RathAnswering questions, the DRM said that the SCR would look after the issue of introduction of Garib Rath and the rake stationed in the railway yard belonged to the Khurda Division and it was not garib rath. He said that the elevation of the Visakhapatnam railway station was being changed. Works had already been awarded to an agency and would be completed soon. The reservation booking complex was also being shifted to a new place. A site had already been identified for this near Chavulamadum area. The parcel office was also being shifted to a new place. This space would be used as a waiting room for the general class, Mr. Kamilla said. ADRM, T.S. Jeegar and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager G.V.L. Satya Kumar were present.
