Hyderabad: If words flow from the depths of the mind, they are certainly destined to hold interest. But if the same words are etched on paper through a pen that costs Rs.10 lakh, they become expensive.
When writing instruments have become more like accessories and style statements for many, the Luxor Group went a step ahead and unveiled the ‘Watermann Exception Solid Gold Pen’ on Monday.
Priced at an unbelievable Rs.10 lakh, the pen boasts of sheer royalty.
“It is made of 18-carat gold and only 5,000 such pieces are available throughout the world. It’s more of an investment and the pen is for those who are into collecting rare pens and those who love to write,” said executive director, Luxor Writing Instruments, Pooja Jain.
Rs. 2-lakh nib
The Watermann Exception Solid Gold Pen is made in France and a spare nib alone costs…hold your breath…a cool Rs. 2 lakh. “The nib is hand crafted and is made of pure gold. Moreover, the pen comes with a lifetime warranty so any fault that comes up will be replaced immediately,” said Ms. Jain.
Installed with a piston filling system, branded inks from Watermann that are priced at Rs. 300 a bottle are available in different colours to go with the pen. The company plans to launch the same pens in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Ahmedabad later this year.
Available on order
“As of now we have brought only two pens to Hyderabad and if one is interested to buy the pen, they can order. These pens will be available in other metropolitan cities as well,” Ms. Jain said.
