Grandmasters in the making: Students engrossed in playing chess at the State-level tournament conducted by Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Kondapur, recently HYDERABAD: About 372 models were paraded for visitors to the science exhibition organised at NSKK High School, Bowenpally, on August 28 and 29. The materials that went into the making of the models were of very low cost and available in plenty. The objective of the exhibition was to provide opportunity for the students to demonstrate their creative talent and enhance thinking potential, a press release from the school said. Maharishi Vidya Mandir A State-level chess tournament was conducted by Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Kondapur, on August 23 and 24 in the name of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Trophy. Lanka Ravi, the first international master from the State attended the event as the chief guest while president of the Andhra Pradesh Chess Association K.A. Siva Prasad and principal of the school Vasanthy Parasuraman were the guests of honour. They gave away the prizes to winners. Lotus School New student cabinet of Lotus School at Manikonda took charge on August 14 at an investiture ceremony presided over by secretary of the school M.V.K. Ravi Kumar. The elected students presented a guard of honour to the head of the institute and the chief guest. Another committee was formed with a few teachers to handle various activities of the school. The event concluded with a mixed medley dance dedicated to the nation’s Independence Day by a group of 60 students. Sujatha High School NCC cadets from Sujatha High School, Abids, participated in the annual NCC training camp under the camp commandant Wing Commander Rajiv Kumar Trikha. The training included activities such as tech lectures, shooting, tech visits, peace rally, drill and cultural programmes. Cadets were motivated at the camp towards developing character, leadership and camaraderie. The school stood as the best in firing and bagged second prize in group dance performed by cadets Sai Kiran and Bhanu Prakash. Foster School Foster High School at Sainikpuri conducted its investiture ceremony recently to give oath of office to new student cabinet for the year 2008-09. The principal and secretary of the school G. Sunitha Rani administered the oath of office to the new cabinet and took salute from the members. Parents of the student leaders were invited to be part of the event.
