HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday reiterated his promise of Rs. 1,000 as monthly unemployment allowance to jobless youth and dared the Congress and other parties to do the same.
Addressing a large gathering of youth after inducting the new office bearers of the Telugu Yuvatha, Mr. Naidu again made it clear that he would fulfil the promise of giving 40 per cent of the party ticket to the youth in the next Assembly elections. When the party returns to power it would also take care of the complete educational needs of the youth.
Sea of yellow
Youth wing members who came from different parts of the State in rallies welcomed the new office bearers by bursting crackers. With vehicles parked on either side of the road leading to the party office in Banjara Hills, the traffic moved at a snail’s pace. The entire stretch turned yellow with youth putting up flexi-boards, banners and festoons.
Impressed by the gathering, he said it showed that the youth continued to be with the party and asked them to launch an uncompromising fight till the “anti-people corrupt Government” was thrown out.
The party left a last impression on youth by giving a boost to IT and biotech industry, opening engineering colleges and creating world class facilities for sports, Mr. Naidu said. In an indirect reference to Praja Rajyam, he said a number of parties would come and go, but the TDP would go on. “It is only the leaders and not the workers who have left the party,” he said.
