Chief Minister’s assurance to JAC

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has assured that the government would not take any decision with regard to converting colleges into universities that would affect the interests of teachers and students.

In his letter to U. Sundararajan, convener, Joint Action Council of College Teachers (JAC), the Chief Minister said the government would consider the views of the JAC. The Chief Minister’s announcement has come in the wake of protests organised by students and teachers across the State. — Special Correspondent
