Additional rice, wheat for 4 States

NEW DELHI: The government has allocated an additional 36,000 tonnes of rice and 1,67,000 tonnes of wheat to Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala and Tripura for the coming festival season.

The break-up of the allocation is: 1,40,000 tonnes of wheat for Maharashtra, 4,000 tonnes of wheat and 6,000 tonnes of rice for Goa, 30,000 tonnes of rice and 20,000 tonnes of wheat for Kerala and 3,000 tonnes of wheat for Tripura.

This is in addition to the regular allocation of food grains to these States under the Targeted Public Distribution System. Besides, the government has made an allocation of 1.25 lakh tonnes of food grains for Bihar.
