Commission term extended

NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet on Friday approved a six-month extension for the second Administrative Reforms Commission headed by the former Karnataka Chief Minister, M. Veerappa Moily.
It will have time till next March end to complete its work.
Set up in 2005, the Commission is entrusted with the task of preparing a blueprint for revamping the public administration system. It had submitted seven reports to the government.
Chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Cabinet meeting also decided to present freedom fighters with “samman patras” (scroll of honour) from the coming Gandhi Jayanti (October 2.)
