BHEL to tap Toshiba technology for transformer
NEW DELHI: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. is in talks with Toshiba for new technology in high capacity transformers and also for gas insulated sub-stations. Giving this information here, Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh said the company’s Bhopal unit would be the centre for manufacture of turbines and other accessories for nuclear plants. “For the first time in the country 765 kV transformer turbines with indigenous technology would be manufactured in the Bhopal unit and the first 765 kV transformer would be installed at Seoni in June 2009,” he stated. — Special Corresponent
