DPS girl’s parents demand CBI probe

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The parents of a Class XI girl student of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram who fell to her death from the fifth floor of the school hostel on Wednesday have demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. However, the school authorities have denied any foul play in the case.

Post-mortem on the body of 17-year-old Pushpanjali Raj was performed by a board of three doctors at Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday after her parents arrived here from Jharkhand.

The doctors also visited the school to study the spot and a forensic science team lifted evidence from the bathroom where Pushpanjali had allegedly locked herself before leaping out of the window.

“We will take further action on the basis of the findings of the post-mortem,” said a senior police officer.

On Wednesday, the police had videographed the spot in the presence of Pushpanjali’s local guardian Durgesh Pandey, they said.

The police are also talking to her roommates to get clues to the case. They were not in the room at the time of the incident.
