No official information on affidavit by Karnataka: Goa
Special Correspondent
PANAJI: The Goa government on Thursday pleaded ignorance of an affidavit reportedly filed by Karnataka in the Supreme Court stating inter alia Goa is part of Karnataka.
The issue was raised by a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Damodar Naik in the State Assembly through a calling attention motion on Thursday.
The MLA said the State government had failed to object to the affidavit.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, in reply to the motion, said that there was no official information available with the government except a news item appearing in a local newspaper and the consequent statement of the MLA.
Assurance
Mr. Kamat went on to assure the member that “it is decided to entrust the matter to Ms. Subhashini, advocate of the Supreme Court, to obtain a copy of the affidavit, if any, so that the government would be in a position to file a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court.”
