Bangalore: R.R. Parida (72 n.o.) and tailender Siddharth Trivedi (22 n.o.) snatched a thrilling two-wicket victory for Air-India as the defending champion and host KSCA XI tumbled out of the KSCA All India invitation cricket tournament. In the semifinals which concluded at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Thursday, Air-India, trailing KSCA XI’s 269, thrived on the early impetus of Mohammad Kaif’s 52 and later soared high on Parida’s effort that spanned 141 deliveries and included six fours. Parida, nursing an injury on the little finger of his left hand, was in obvious discomfort often removing his hand from the handle after playing a shot, but he battled ahead as Air-India reached 270 for eight in 77.5 overs.
Meanwhile at the IAF Ground, the other rain-marred semifinal witnessed TNCA registering a 23-run victory over Gujarat CA with L. Balaji and C. Suresh grabbing three wickets each. The final between Air-India and TNCA will be held at the RSI Ground here on Friday and Saturday. The scores (semifinals): KSCA XI 269 for nine in 80 overs lost to Air-India 270 for eight in 77.5 overs (R.R. Parida 72 n.o., Mohd. Kaif 52). TNCA 163 for one in 46 overs bt Gujarat CA 140 in 41.4 overs.
