Maiden show: NTPP chief T. Devender Goud at the party’s first public meeting in Hyderabad on Wednesday. - HYDERABAD: The newly founded Nava Telangana Praja Party (NTPP) will unilaterally “declare statehood to Telangana” on November 1 when it proposes to implement self-rule in the region. The party will “change” the name of the State from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana on all the signboards. The number plates on all vehicles will also have the name of Telangana, the NTPP president T. Devender Goud told a public meeting to mark the launch of the party here on Wednesday. Mr. Goud asked the Government to adopt a resolution either in the Assembly or Parliament “creating separate Telangana” by November, the State Formation Day. Otherwise, the NTPP would mobilise people of the region in seeking the State in a peaceful manner. He announced a programme of visiting every village in the region by bus from September 3. He vowed to build a strong movement through his tour which, he hoped, would pave the way for the defeat of the Congress in the next elections. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy could end up being the last person to head a Congress Government in the State, he said. Mr. Goud promised to generate political leadership from the grassroots in his party which would ensure social justice. The weaker sections, particularly SCs and STs, would be the focus of the party. It would put in place a new political and economic order with the participation of people, he said. Targets TDP, CongressHe criticised the Congress and the TDP for lacking democratic structure within the party. While the Congress was like a ‘ten-headed monster’, the TDP was a sinking boat. The NTPP, on the other hand, will lend a fresh look to politics by entrusting responsibilities to youth. There would be no room for hereditary politics in NTPP.
