HYDERABAD: A day after the launch of ‘Praja Rajyam’ by film star Chiranjeevi, Telugu Desam Party appeared circumspect in reacting to the new political outfit. Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu reserved his comments to a later day when he was approached by media persons while he was calling on the fasting party MLA Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy. He said he did not want to “dilute” the issue of the suspension of Mr. Balaram. Facing a volley of questions at another press conference later, deputy leader of TDLP Nagam Janardhan Reddy too appeared reluctant. “It is just a day-old party and we feel there is no need to make any comments now.” NTR’s ideologyAvoiding a direct comment, he said when thespian N. T. Rama Rao formed the TDP 26 years ago, he had specific political ideology and brought together all sections of Telugus on one platform. In a way he had the unique distinction of liberating the weaker sections from the era of exploitation and giving them equal opportunities. To a specific question on Mr. Chiranjeevi’s “favourable” comments on separate Telangana, Dr. Reddy said TDP too had made it clear that it was not opposed to Telangana. It was just that a committee was studying the issue and the party would finalise its stand based on its recommendation.
