For a dazzling wardrobe

VIJAYAWADA: A riot of colour liberally sprinkled across the central hall of the Gateway Hotel on M.G. Road has lent the place a bejewelled look.

The ‘Wedding Expo – 2008’, a three-day exhibition-cum-sale of exclusive designer wear and a special wedding collection, unveiled by the Hyderabad-based showroom Le Celebre, is attracting people, especially women who have a weakness for glitter, in droves to the venue.

The wedding collection includes an exquisite blend of ethnic motifs, intricate embroidery and rich silken material in deep vibrant colours like vermilion, crimson, pink, orange or magenta with a heavy golden work. The younger lot fond of ghagra-cholis can splurge on the ethnic motifs with spatters of trendy designs, ardently formulated together. The ghagras are available in fish-cut, straight-cut and umbrella-cut patterns. “We have a steady stream of people coming in since morning. Most of them are buying wedding saris in the range of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000,” says Pranitha Reddy, the general manager of the showroom. “The objective is to establish our brand name and test the pulse of buyers in this city,” says Vivek Reddy, the proprietor of the stores, while his better half Sailaja Reddy, also the managing director of the showroom, chips in: “ On the occasion of the first anniversary of our showroom, we decided to gift our customers their chosen garments.” The Reddys are offering a flat 30 p.c. discount on entire stock.
