Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday stayed a State Government notification of August 9, 2008, auctioning encroached government land in and around Bangalore on Wednesday.
Justice D.S. Shylendra Kumar passed the order on petitions by Krishnappa and others questioning the action of the Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore, in putting to public auction government lands.
Krishnappa and others said they were in occupation of the lands for decades. They said they had paid the TT money (money collected by the State for regularising lands). They said the Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore, without giving them notice, had put to auction government lands in the villages of Doddaballapur, Byatarayanapura, Jakkur, Tarabanahalli, Sadanahalli, Adiganahalli, Kuduregere, Doddakallahalu, Kodgipura, Uttarahalli, Kammaghatta, Kumbalgod, Pattengere and Solekere.
