Rail roko by Dalit Christians

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Members of the National Council of Dalit Christians and Karantaka Dalit Christian Federation on Tuesday staged a rail roko agitation at the Cantonment Railway station demanding immediate implementation of the Justice Ranganath Misra committee recommendations and inclusion of Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims in the Scheduled Castes list. In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the agitators said that the commission had recognised that “differential treatment of SC status on the basis of religion is unreasonable and unrealistic.” It said that the recommendation was not being implemented because of the “inactiveness and lethargic attitude” of the UPA Government.
