Easy for Sethu Institute hoopsters

CHENNAI: Sethu Institute (Madurai) beat D.G. Vaishnav College (Chennai) 44-18 in the ongoing Bertram basketball tournament at Loyola College here on Tuesday.

Loyola Commerce bt T.S.N College 24-10; Loyola Yellows bt Loyola Hostel 67-28. Loyola Philosophy w/o I.C.F School; Sethu Institute (Madurai) bt D.G. Vaishnav College 44-18. Bishop Heber College (Trichy) bt Jesuit Scholastics 55-44; S.S.N. Engineering bt St. Joseph’s College (Trichy) 63-31.

M.C.T.M School bt Guru Nanak College 44-34.

Saleem nets three

Striker Saleem scored three goals in host Sree Narayana Guru College’s 3-1 win over VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science in a ‘C’ zone match of the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate football tournament at the SNGC grounds in Coimbatore on Tuesday.

Manjunath struck the lone goal for VLB.

Selvam scalps six

Selvam’s six-wicket haul helped Kongu Arts and Science College defeat Srinivasan Arts and Science College by nine wickets and enter the quarterfinals of the Bharathidasan University inter-collegiate (Tiruchi division) cricket tournament in Tiruchi on Tuesday.

The scores (Pre-quarterfinals): Srinivasan Arts and Science College 96 in 20 overs (Selvam six for 11) lost to Kongu Arts and Science College 97 for one in 13 overs.

National College 85 in 22 overs (Vasanthakumar five for nine) lost to Karur 86 for nine in 18.2 overs.

Urumu Dhanalakshmi College 172 for five in 25 overs (G. Sivaraj 51) bt Thanthai Hans Roever College 92 in 15 overs.

Arignar Anna GAC 151 for eight in 25 overs (Bakkurudeen four for 35) bt MIET Arts College 110 in 21 overs.

Bishop Heber College 194 for nine in 25 overs (Shanmugaraja 61, Suresh 56) bt Nehru Memorial College 67 in 16.5 overs (Lokesh five for 15).

Pavendar Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science 84 for seven in 20 overs lost to St. Joseph’s College 86 for two in 16 overs.
