Manipal: Former Chief Secretary to the Sikkim Government K. Sreedhar Rao said on Tuesday that the countries with good governance and economic freedom had progressed rapidly. He was delivering a talk on “Governance and Development”, organised by Manipal University.

Mr. Rao said that providing security to people through an efficient law and order machinery helped good governance. There should be effective redressal of people’s grievances and proper dispensation of justice. This required creation of proper institutional framework, he said. Head of the Department of Geopolitics Arvind Kumar was present. — Staff Correspondent
