Painting exhibition focusses on Yakshagana

‘Yaksha-Varna’ will be held from Friday

Udupi: A painting exhibition, “Yaksha-Varna”, focusing on the art form of Yakshagana will be held at Vibhuti Art Gallery here from August 29 to 31.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, secretary of Yakshagana Kalaranga Murali Kadekar said that 40 paintings by 20 artists from Udupi and Mangalore would be displayed at the exhibition. Two works of each artist will be displayed.

The proceeds from the sale of the paintings will go to “Yaksha-Nidhi”, a welfare fund for Yakshagana artistes. The artists whose works will be displayed at the exhibition are: Vasant Rao, Basavaraj Kutni, Praveen Kumar, Prasad Rao, Ganesh K., Subramanya R.K., Permude Mohan Kumar, Rajendra Kedige, Dinesh Holl, P.N. Acharya, Srinath Manipal, Jayavanth, Venkataramana Kamath, Sulochana Venugopal, G. Kandan, Jeevan A.S., Manoj Kini, Pushparaj, Shailesh Kotian and Ashok Shet.
