TIRUCHI: Energex 2008, an Energy Excellence Exhibition of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), slated for September 26-28 at the St. John Vestry Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School Grounds here, is being designed to showcase the potential of Tiruchi zone as a major engineering hub. The theme for the second edition is ‘Power to Power the World’. The CII, Tiruchi Zone, expects business generation worth Rs. 500 crore, compared to Rs. 200 crore in the first edition in 2005, thereby reinforcing the pre-eminence of the district. It would project the strengths of four large and leading boiler manufacturers, 30 pressure parts and boiler parts manufacturers, over 300 fabrication units, over 200 machine shops, and 10 wind mill tower manufacturers, besides a pool of talent in design and Research and Development in the energy equipment and fabrication solutions, in the district. Senthil Annamalai, Chairman, CII, Tiruchi zone, told reporters on Monday that about 5,000 business and trade visitors and 400 delegates are expected for the event that seeks to nurture business contacts, imbibe the latest technology trends, cultivate business relations, and prepare for the exponential growth of clean and renewable energy. Energy equipment manufacturers are set to expand businesses by showcasing their capabilities to Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors, turnkey consultants, wind-mill equipment manufacturers and State Electricity Boards. Key participants include BHEL; Cethar Vessels; Wuxi Yangtong Mechanical Equipment Co. Ltd., China; L & T; Ansaldo Caldaie Boilers; Carborundum Universal Ltd., GK Sons Engineering Enterprises; Veesons Energy; American Environment Technologies Ltd, and CUMI (Murugappa Group), informed P.V. Kannan, Chairman, Energex 2008.
