Responsibilities of students in free India

Rajan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Villapuram, celebrated Independence Day in a grand manner. The chief guest, G. Kaliappan, Senior Manager, Canara Bank, hoisted the national flag. The correspondent, G.N. Devi Rani, and senior advisor, S. Gurusamy, spoke about Independence Day and students’ responsibilities in a free India. Students participated in a march past and drill. They also presented various cultural programmes based on patriotism. The administrative officer, R. Parthasarathy, gave away prizes.

Freedom fighters remembered

SPJ Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Avaniapuram, celebrated Independence Day with much grandeur under the presidentship of J. Palanichamy, school secretary.

S. E. Rajam, General Manager, Mobile Services, BSNL, hoisted the national flag and delivered a speech on freedom fighters’ history. She also distributed prizes to winners of various competitions conducted to mark K. Kamaraj’s birthday and Independence Day.

J. Arul Prakash, Principal, and P. Abarna, correspondent, spoke.

Dance programmes

Dance programmes and elocution competitions on themes such as unity, patriotism, fraternity and national integrity marked the Independence Day celebrations at Karpaga Vinayagar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, K. Pudur. F. Kevin Richard of XII Standard welcomed the gathering and K. Yamini of XII Standard proposed a vote of thanks.

I-Day celebration

The 62nd Independence Day was celebrated on the school premises on behalf of all educational institutions run by Sourashtra High School Council, in the presence of A.K. Ramamoorthy, correspondent.

T. R. Rajaram, former professor of S. Vellaichamy Nadar College, was the chief guest.

He also took salute at a march past of NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and Scouts. He distributed prizes to winners of various competitions held in connection with Independence Day celebrations. Students presented various cultural programmes highlighting the sprit of independence.

M. N. Sankaran, president, Sourashtra High School Council, presided.

T. S. Soundararajan, Headmaster, Sourashtra Higher Secondary School, welcomed the gathering. B. R. Arangaraman, Headmaster, Sourashtra Co-educational Higher Secondary School, read out the oath. B. Govindammal, Principal, S.P.V. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, proposed a vote of thanks.

Colourful events

Independence Day was celebrated at Motherland School, Viswanathapuram, with flag hoisting and colourful cultural events by Kindergarten students.

Subedar Marieswaran of 7th Battalion, NCC took salute after hoisting the national flag. Nicholas Francis, Director, presided. Kindergarten students presented cultural programmes on patriotic themes. Hannah Cecil, Principal, welcomed the gathering.

Patriotic themes

Sriman Nayakiyar Vidya Mandir Matriculation School, Teppakulam, celebrated Independence Day with programmes on patriotic themes.

K.R. Yogeshwaran, industrialist, hoisted the tricolour. Students presented a variety of entertainment programmes. K. K. Surendranath, president, presided.

“Understand the value of freedom”

The Independence Day was celebrated at VKK Play Group Matriculation Higher Secondary School in a grand manner. The celebration started with flag hoisting by T. Ravichandran, Gandhi Museum Programme Officer.

In his speech, Mr. Ravichandran exhorted the students to be patriotic and understand the value of freedom. He also encouraged them to realise that their dreams would come true only through hard work and patience. Senior Principal S. Ayyappan welcomed the gathering. Kindergarten, junior and senior section children spoke about great leaders and freedom fighters.
