Sanghi Public School posts win

HYDERABAD: Sanghi Public School defeated St. Joseph’s High School (Habsiguda) 15-11, 8-15, 15-13 in the boys’ preliminary round of the 20th Regal Sports inter-School volleyball tournament for boys and girls for the Naresh Memorial Trophy, organised by the Musheerabad Sports Association, here on Saturday.

The results: Boys: St. Joseph’s HS (Malakpet) bt St. Joseph’s (King Koti) 15-9, 15-12; HPS (Ramanthapur) bt Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan 15-12, 15-11; Govt HS (Habsiguda) bt Rajashree Vidya Mandir 15-10, 15-6; Govt HS (Yousufguda) bt APSWS School (Shaikpet) 17-15, 15-5; Sanghi Public School bt St. Joseph’s HS (Habsiguda) 15-11, 8-15, 15-13; DAV (Safilguda) bt Abyas HS (Toopran) 15-8, 15-13; Govt HS (Jamia Osmania) bt Mamatha HS 15-11, 15-7.

Girls: AEC School I bt St. Pious HS ‘A’ 15-9, 15-12; KVS (Begumpet) bt Sanghi Public School 15-10, 15-11; St. Philomena bt Rosary Convent 15-3, 15-4; St. Francis ‘A’ bt Mamatha HS 15-13, 15-4.

AV College wins

AV College defeated Bhavan’s College (Sainikpuri) 25-19, 23-25, 15-10 in the volleyball final of the OU inter-Collegiate sports meet here.

In the basketball final, St. Mary’s College got the better of Bhavan’s College (Sainikpuri) 56-49 to clinch the title.

Shivani advances

S. Shivani blanked Kushi 7-0 in the girls’ under-10 first round of the Wilson mini sub-junior tennis tournament, organised by the NVK Tennis Academy, at the SAAP Tennis Complex here.

Basketball tournament

The inaugural Talasani Sandeep Yadav Memorial invitation basketball tournament will be organised by the AP Hoopsters Club at the Nehrunagar playground from August 25 to September 1.
