BANGALORE: Government High School (Old Fort) defeated East West High School by 181 runs in the Boost inter-school (under-16) cricket tournament here on Saturday. In another match, Shanthiniketan High School beat Max Muller HS by nine wickets. The scores: Govt. HS (Old Fort) 274 for four in 45 overs (Shivan Raj 60, Ranjith 43, Zamir Pasha 53) bt East West School 93 in 30.4 overs. Max Muller HS 84 in 20 overs lost to Shantiniketan School 88 for one in 11.2 overs. ASC prevailsIn a clash between two Services’ outfits, ASC prevailed over CIL at 25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 25-27, 15-10 in the State ‘A’ division volleyball championship at Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Saturday. Ragesh and Sathyraj played well for ASC while, Chandrashekar and Shankae kept CIL in the hunt. Jindal, Bellary scored another hard-fought win, beating Postal 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 16-14. Indian teamReigning champion Rajesh Choudhury (Army Yachting Node) and Jasvir Singh have been selected to represent India in the laser standard category at the Asian sailing championship to be held at the Turtle Island, Bali in October. The five-day selection trials, which ended on Friday saw nine races being held and the top two from each of the three categories — laser standard, optimist boys and optimist girls — were selected for the Bali meet. In the optimist boys’ category, it was a TNSA show all the way with TNSA sailors Hussain Bhavnagarvala and Varun Thakkar getting selected. Deepak Chinappa winsDeepak Chinappa,with 37 points won the title in the Division I ( 0-10) of the KGA-Epson shotgun start golf tournament played on stableford format at the KGA course in Bangalore on Saturday. Utpal Desai ( 34 pts) and Dhara Chinnappa ( 33 pts) finished as the first and second runner-up respectively. Other winners: Div. II (11-19): Al. Rm. Nagappan (39 pts); Div. III (20-36): L.D. Arun Kumar (31 pts).
