Rs.8.23 crore for irrigation works in Chinnaru basin

PERAMBALUR: State Government has allotted Rs.8.23 crore for executing various development works through nine departments in 26 villages in the Chinnaru sub-basin in the district under the Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation and Water Bodies Restoration and Management Project, Collector Anil Meshram has said.

Inaugurating a special, free veterinary medical camp at Sengunam, organised under the project, Mr. Meshram said that Rs.5.36 crore had been allotted to the Public Works Department for desilting and repairing irrigation tanks.

The Agriculture Engineering Department had been sanctioned Rs.1.10 crore, the Horticulture Department Rs.40 lakh, the Animal Husbandry Department Rs.20 lakh and the Agriculture Department Rs.12 lakh for various development works.

The irrigation tank, spread over 95 acres, in Sengunam village would be desilted and improved at an estimate of Rs.44.35 lakh. This would benefit about 127 acres of agricultural land.

MLA M. Rajkumar, District Revenue Officer P.Shankar and other officials spoke. About 450 cattle were provided free treatment at the camp. Later Mr.Meshram inspected the door-to-door verification of the photo electoral rolls in the village.
