Films on ragging in A.P. theatres

HYDERABAD: The A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) is getting serious about spreading the message that ragging is not just dangerous but can cost the students who are responsible their academics and careers. The message would be spread through film theatres, thronged by the students frequently apart from television channels.

The Council has produced six short films on ill-effects of ragging on the newcomers and how the law was stringent in dealing with the menace. These films would be screened in all the theatres across the State and the same would be aired on television channels. Well-known faces from the film industry and television have been roped in to make the films including Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Chairman, A.P. State Cultural Council.

The APSCHE Secretary, M.D. Christopher, said that the one-minute capsules would educate students not to indulge in ragging apart from showcasing the punishment they had to undergo if found guilty. “The Information & Public Relations department will screen them in all theatres and copies have been dispatched,” he said.
