Staff Reporter
Kakinada: As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has contributed Rs. 1 crore to ‘Protsaham’, an initiative of the district administration aimed at providing quality education to poor children.
Under the scheme, students below the poverty line who secured more than 500 marks in the SSC examination are sponsored to pursue higher education and obtain coaching for entrance tests in reputed colleges. Called ‘Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Protsaham’, the scheme was launched by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy during his tour here. The RIL promised to allocate Rs. 1 crore for the scheme every year.
