Chennai: The Madras ladies golf championship will be conducted at the Cosmopolitan Club Golf Course from August 26 to 29. This is the first event in the Indian Golf Union Ladies Section (IGULS)’s calendar this year. The eight IGULS categorised tournaments determine the National Order of Merit among amateur lady golfers in India. The 72-hole strokeplay event will be played in three divisions based on handicap. Golfers with a handicap of 12 or less will contest the gold division, those with 13 to 24 the silver division, and 25 to 36 the bronze division. A total of 48 entries have been received of which 22 are in the gold division. The top-seed in the gold division is Meher Atwal of Delhi, with a handicap of 3. — Sports Reporter
