State reception for Abhinav Bindra

Thiruvananthapuram: The State government has decided to accord a reception to Abhinav Bindra, who won a shooting gold in the Beijing Olympics, and his coach Sunny Thomas.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will present a gold medallion to Bindra at the function.

The State government had already announced a reward of Rs.5 lakh to coach Sunny Thomas, who hails from Kerala.

Bindra’s is the first individual gold by any Indian in the Olympic Games.
