Subsidy opposed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government will lodge a protest against the Central government’s decision to provide subsidy for imported edible oil. Talking to presspersons after a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said that the decision to provide subsidy at Rs.15 a kg for imported oil such as palmolein would hit farmers of the State badly. The government would convey its protest to the Centre and demand that the subsidy should be provided for coconut oil. — Special Correspondent
