AIYF slams SEZ move

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI-led All India Youth Federation (AIYF) has come out strongly against the LDF government’s move to sanction Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in the State.

Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, AIYF State secretary P.S. Supal said the provisions of the SEZ law were totally anti-worker and pro-monopoly and would not provide protection to those employed in the SEZs.

The workers would be at the mercy of managements as there would be no clear stipulation relating to working hours and all the rights guaranteed by the Constitution would remain suspended within the SEZ limits, Mr. Supal said.
