COIMBATORE: Multi-speciality health awareness and treatment camps are being organised by the Isha Yoga Centre as part of ‘Arokya Alai,’ a version of the centre’s Action for Rural Rejuvenation project. According to a release from the centre, the special scheme provides specialist medical treatment for people in the rural areas. One such camp was recently organised at the Saravanampatti Panchayat Middle School. S.S. Kathirvel, president, Saravanampatti Panchayat, inaugurated the camp. K.R. Jayaram, chairman, S.S. Kulam Panchayat, presided. Isha volunteers, self-help group members, teachers and panchayat staff participated. The centre had also conducted health education camps in many schools in the villages. More than 200 patients from villages were treated by specialist doctors from K.G. Hospital and Sri Lakshmi Dental Clinic, Goundampalayam. Isha Yoga Centre was planning to conduct similar camps in rural areas throughout Tamil Nadu during this year to help people in the villages get specialised health services. The Action for Rural Rejuvenation project had already covered about 3,600 villages and 22 lakh people.
