TIRUCHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has condemned the sudden hike in fares in private buses operating in the district. In a statement, district secretary S. Sridhar said the private bus operators had unilaterally decided to hike the fares, putting the travellers to hardship. The bus fares were always fixed by the government, he said while urging the district administration and the state government to intervene into this matter and bring down the fares besides initiating action against the private bus operators. No power supplyThere will be no power supply in the following areas on August 21 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. owing to maintenance work at Ammapettai sub station: Ramji Nagar, Kallikudi, Ariyavur, N.Kuttapatti, Chandirapatti, Pudhukulam, Poolangulathupatti, Ammapettai, Inamkulathur, Pellivadi, Alampattipudur, Sithanatham, Thayanur Sandhai and Karayampatti, a press release said.
