Zimbabwe pulls out of World T20
DUBAI: Zimbabwe has finally withdrawn from next year’s World Twenty20 tournament in England.
The International Cricket Council says the one-off decision was reached on Wednesday at a meeting with Zimbabwe Cricket officials in Dubai. Zimbabwe will be replaced by Scotland in next June’s tournament.
Zimbabwe pulled out because the British government would not grant visas in protest against Robert Mugabe’s victory in a widely discredited presidential election. The England and Wales Cricket Board has also cut ties with Zimbabwe. — AP
