Easy win for KSCA XI

BANGALORE: KSCA XI coasted to a facile six-wicket victory over Gujarat Cricket Association XI in the KSCA all-India invitation tournament at KSCA (turf) grounds here on Wednesday.

In a match reduced to 81 overs-a-side, Gujarat CA resuming at 225 for six, made 273 without any further loss.

In reply, KSCA despite a shaky start, rode to an easy victory, thanks to a 211-run third-wicket stand between K.B. Pawar (108, 188b, 15x 4) and V.S. Thilak Naidu (124, 169b, 12 x 4, 2x6).

In another match, Air India CC crushed Hyderabad XI by 156 runs. Resuming at 211 for two, Air-India, powered by Md. Kaif’s unbeaten 108 (89b, 7x4, 6x6), made 383 for four in 60 overs.

Kaif, also shared a 156-run third-wicket partnership with H. Kanitkar (91, 78b, 10x4, 2 x6).

Meanwhile, D.Y. Patil Academy defeated UPCA XI by 69 runs, while the match between KSCA Colts and ONGC was washed out without a ball being bowled.

The scores: Gujarat CA 273 for six in 81 overs lost to KSCA XI 274 for four in 71.2 overs (K.B. Pawan 108 , V.S. Thilak Naidu 124).

Air India Cricket Club 383 for four in 60 overs (Robin Uthappa 123, N. Ojha 47, H. Kanitkar 91, Md. Kaif 108 n.o.) beat Hyderabad CA 227 in 59.5 overs (T. Suman 51, Anoop Pai 40, Amol Shinde 50, Chandela four for 66).

Dr. D.Y. Patil Cricket Academy 206 for eight in 57 overs (Shoaib Shaik 57, Piyush Chawla five for 79) beat Uttar Pradesh CA 137 in 42.3 overs (Saurabh Bhandekar four for 39). — Special Correspondent
