Roca to retain Parryware brand

KOLKATA: Roca Sanitario of Spain which holds a 97 per cent stake in Parryware Roca Private Ltd will continue to retain the Parryware brand in India, company managing director Emilio Salazar said. In April 2006, Roca of Spain and EID Parry had formed the joint venture company.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday on the occasion of the launch of its international premium collection, Crestia, he said from being a sanitaryware brand, the company was transforming itself into a bathroom solutions provider. It uses both the brands — Parryware and Roca — in India.

The market was now estimated at Rs. 900-1,000 crore in which the organised sector accounted for a Rs. 500 crore share. Parryware has a 47 per cent on this market and it was aiming at a higher share. “Within three years, we are aiming at doubling of turnover from Rs. 400 crore now,” he said.

Mr. Salazar said the premium market for sanitaryware in India was estimated at Rs. 130 crore and Parryware commanded a 10 per cent share of this market. Even as rising rates on housing loans cast a pall over the realty sector this segment was still growing at a high rate.

Parryware is targeting to double its share in this market segment.

The company now has four plants manufacturing sanitaryware and one manufacturing taps. Mr. Salazar said that expansions — brownfield and greenfield — were on the anvil but would be in locations which could offer natural gas a vital input.
