BANGALORE: The country’s rich and myriad traditions of arts and craft were brought together on a single platform at the Cottage Mela at Safina Plaza. The exhibition-cum-sale has been organised by the Central Cottage Industries Emporium for the eighth year. Rural crafts and textiles from around the country are on display.
For those looking for home accessories or gifts are the stylised figurines of dhokra brass from Madhya Pradesh, Warli art from Maharashtra, Madhubani paintings from Bihar, hand-crafted wood furniture, bronze and brass idols, and hand-knotted woollen carpets from Amritsar.
The mela features over 50 national and State award-winners from all over India. “It aims at providing an opportunity for the artisans to directly transact with customers,” said the emporium’s assistant manager, M. Gururaj.
The mela is on till August 31.
