North Zone sitting pretty

VISAKHAPATNAM: North Zone was in a comfortable position at the end of the first day’s play in the ACA under-22 inter-zone cricket tournament round-robin match against South Zone, at Kakinada on Friday.

Left-arm spinner A. Veera Babu and medium pacer M. Ajay Kumar picked up three wickets each as South was shot out for 87 runs.

At stumps, North was 160 for four, thanks to half-centuries by V. Abraham (64, 6x4) and B. Sumanth (58, 8x4).

The scores: South Zone 87 in 33.4 overs (A. Veera Babu three for 16, M. Ajay Kumar three for 28) v North Zone 160 for four in 50.1 overs (V. Abraham 64, B. Sumanth 58). — Special Correspondent
