CHENNAI: The Khadi Kraft showroom in Kuralagam is holding an exhibition of products manufactured by women self help groups (SHG) and individual women entrepreneurs till August 24. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday by Minister for Khadi K.Ramachandran. Khadi Board Managing Director M.P. Nirmala said that the exhibition was organised with a view to boost the sales at the showroom. The items on display include hand-made pots, organic food items such as jams, syrups and pickles, hand-made jewellery, artificial fountains and embroidered clothes. A statue of Gandhi spinning the ‘charkha’ greets visitors at the entrance of the showroom. Also on display are several rare photographs of Mahatma Gandhi, including his writing in Tamil. The event organiser Girija Raghavan said the showroom had managed to get rid of encroachments on the pavement facing the High Court building, which had now created more space for visitors to enter, exit and even park their vehicles.
