Haryana to increase milk procurement rates soon

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: In view of the festival season, the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited has decided to increase the milk procurement rates in the State by Rs.5 per kg fat with immediate effect.

An official spokesman said here on Thursday that the revised milk purchase rates would now be Rs.270 per kg fat and as such the increase in rate would be of 33 paise per kg for average fat of 6.5 per cent.

However, there would be no change in the selling price of pasteurized milk to the consumers as the additional burden on account of increase in milk procurement price would be borne by the Federation and its affiliated Milk Unions.

He added that with the increase in milk procurement rate, the Federation would pay an additional amount of about Rs.30 lakh per month to the milk producers. Currently, about three lakh kg of milk is procured daily.
