Tirupati to host State senior badminton

VIJAYAWADA: Tirupati will host the State senior badminton tournament from August 27 to 30, the APBA Secretary, K.Ch. Punnaiah Choudary, said here on Wednesday.

The tournament will be held in men’s singles, doubles, women’s singles and doubles categories.

Basketball tournament

Gudivada will host the AP inter-district (u-16) youth basketball tournament at the NTR Stadium from August 21 to 24. Around 18 boys’ and 15 girls’ teams are expected to take part in the tournament.

Durga to lead

Vijayawada’s J. Durga Bhavani will lead the Krishna District Cricket Association’s senior women’s team in the Central Zone inter-district tournament to be held at Vijayawada from August 26.

Meghana is captain

Ibrahimpatnam’s S. Meghana will lead the Krishna District Cricket Association’s under-19 team in the Central Zone inter-district tournament to be held at Vijayawada from August 21.

Easy for Central

Central Zone beat South Zone by 10 wickets in a round-robin match of the ACA under-22 inter-zone tournament at Kakinada on Wednesday.

The match ended on the second day itself.

The scores: South Zone 173 and 126 in 33.5 overs (Y. Vinshu Preetham Reddy 43, S. Gayaz Ahmed 35, Sk.M. Basha four for 28, R.V. Nagarjuna four for 31) lost to Central Zone 226 in 58.5 overs (A.G. Pradeep 64, M. Dinesh Kumar 53, Sk. Shakeer Hussain 48, R. Vishnu five for 67, Sk. Noushad three for 51) and 74 for no loss in 16.2 overs (T. Shiva Nageswara Rao 32 n.o., M. Chidambreswara Rao 31 n.o.).

Trials
