Textile policy to be implemented in two months

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Textiles Minister Goolihatty D. Shekhar on Wednesday said the new textile policy in the State was likely to be implemented in a month or two.

Finishing touches were being given to the policy which is expected to be brought before the State Cabinet soon to get the necessary clearance for its implementation.

The notification on implementation of the policy would be issued after getting clearance from the Cabinet, he said,

He said the proposed policy would lay emphasis on providing incentives to encourage investment in textile sector, especially the garments’ field. It would also list measures to impart training and assistance for technology upgrading.

The new policy would offer support to weavers who are in distress due to tough competition, he said.
