Coimbatore in quarterfinals

Coimbatore: Host Coimbatore, by virtue of its first innings lead, entered the quarterfinal of the TNCA under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds here on Wednesday.

After posting 280 for nine, the host, thanks to Goutham (six for 36) bundled out Tiruvallur for 142 and enforced the follow on. Tiruvallur defied the host an outright win, scoring 125 for five in its second essay.

The scores: Coimbatore 280 for nine drew with Tiruvallur 142 (Santhosh 42, Poiyyamozhi 42, Goutham six for 36) & 125 for five in 40 overs (Mukund 56). (Coimbatore qualifies).

At Salem: Sivaganga 173 & 74 for six drew with Salem 193 in 73.3 overs (K. Venkatapathy 75, Vivek Adinam five for 59). (Salem through)

At Namakkal: Tiruvannamalai 130 & 128 for four in 27 overs (S. Mohanraj four for 51) drew with Namakkal 284 for seven in 90 overs (S. Suresh Kumar 54, P. Prabakaran 100 n.o., K. Balaji 42, S. Suresh five for 81). (Namakkal advances).

At Cuddalore: Cuddalore 85 & 193 for nine in 38.2 overs (Kugan 76, Hariprasad three for 43, Aashish Kumar three for 58) lost to Kancheepuram 241 in 84.1 overs (A.C. Prathiban 80, G. Vijay 40, G. Madan three for 39, J. Nagarajan three for 44) & 38 for no loss in 3.5 overs.

At Nagapattinam: Erode 111 & 141 in 30 overs (Yuvaraj 59, Raja four for 25, Haja three for 53) bt Nagapattinam 129 in 55 overs (Kiran Prasad four for 49, Boopathy Raja three for 18) & 119 for nine in 40 overs.

At Vellore: VDCA 142 (R. Rohit 47 n.o., V. Naresh Babu 30, J. Raju five for 28, K.K. Prabhu four for 40) bt KDCA 95 & 34 for five (V. Naresh Babu three for 13) by virtue of first innings lead.
