Prem Prakash stuns Rafath Habib, wins title

Erode: Prem Prakash of Champions Billiards Academy, Coimbatore, stunned defending champion and Busan Asian Games gold medallist Rafath Habib of Railways 0-122, 75-35, 25-67, 15-56, 69-10, 68-29, 87-11, 38-03 to emerge the champion of the fifth Chinthamani Memorial open snooker championship at the S.S. Sports Academy here recently.

Sharvan Mohta combined with Shivram Arora of Maharashtra to oust Loganathan and Varun Kumar duo of Chennai 4-2 for the doubles title.

Abdul lifts title

At Coimbatore, Abdul Hakkim of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Polytechnic College tallied 10 points and clinched the top spot in chess in the inter-polytechnic athletic Association (Tamil Nadu & Puducherry) Coimbatore division games tournament at Christ the King Polytechnic College here recently.

Later, PSG Polytechnic College defeated Christ the King Polytechnic 21-6, 25-17 for the carrom title.

RSK HSS in final

At Tiruchi, RSK HSS and St. Joseph’s HSS entered the final of the Soccer King Pele football tournament, conducted by Tiruchi District Football Association, here on Wednesday.

The results: Semifinals: RSK HSS 2 (Robert Rex, Shyamsundar) bt Teppakulam Bishop Heber HSS 0; St. Joseph’s HSS bt St. Xavier HSS 4-2 (through tiebreaker).

Title for MAM

MAM Polytechnic College defeated SIT 29-14, 29-7 to win the title at the IPAA inter-polytechnic college (Tiruchi zone) ball badminton tournament.

The results: Final: MAM PC bt SIT 29-14, 29-7. Semifinals: MAM PC bt Subramania PC 29-14, 29-9; SIT bt Roever PC 29-16, 29-19.

Seconds CC wins

At Tuticorin, Seconds Cricket Club defeated Youth Cricket Club by 97 runs in the final of the T20 cricket tournament to lift the Thiliban Trophy on Wednesday.

The scores: Seconds CC 180 for two in 20 overs (Narasimman 74 not out, Safique 67 not out) bt Youth CC 83 in 17 overs (Godson four for 13, Jayaganesh three for seven).

MSP in final

At Dindigul, Balakrishnan’s six for 13 helped MSP Solai Nadar HSS defeat Government HSS, K. Pudukottai by six wickets to enter the final of the Boost Trophy inter-School cricket tournament on Wednesday.

The scores (semifinals): Govt. HSS, K. Pudukottai 97 in 20.5 overs (Balakrishnan six for 13) lost to MSP Solai Nadar HSS 98 for four in 20.2 overs; Victory MHSS, Chinnalapatti 243 for four in 25 overs (K. Dhandapani 62 n.o., Vijaya Prakash 47 n.o.) bt Akshya Om Shanthi MHSS 89 for eight in 25 overs.

Sankar HSS advances

At Tirunelveli, Sankar HSS entered the final of the ICL Trophy inter-School (u-13) cricket tournament.

The scores (semifinals): Sankar HSS 152 for four in 25 overs (Jebin Nalsingh 45, Kamaraj 35) bt Vaiyapuri Vidyalaya HSS, Sankarankoil, 88 in 20.2 overs (Jebin Nalsingh three for 13, Duraipandy three for 28).
