Grief-stricken: The scene at Bali Nursing Home at Dev Nagar in Delhi where the Blueline victims have been admitted.

NEW DELHI: Two persons were killed and two injured when a rashly driven Blueline bus rammed into three motorcycles at a traffic signal near Khalsa Chowk in Dev Nagar here on Tuesday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus plying on route 39 between Kanhaiya Nagar and Jheel ploughed through the stationary two-wheelers waiting at the red light around 7-30 p.m.

While 44-year-old Kapil Bhargava died on the spot after being dragged along for a few metres, his wife Nidhi has been admitted to Bali Nursing Home with serious injuries.

Residents of Sector 9 in Dwarka, the Bhargavas were on their way home from Karol Bagh when the accident took place. Kapil ran a mobile cover manufacturing unit at Anand Parbat. The other victim, Vipin Dubey, was also killed after being dragged along some distance.

Twenty-eight-year-old Asgar Ali, another victim, has been admitted to the same nursing home with injuries. Both Nidhi and Asgar have multiple fractures, but their condition was said to be stable.

According to Ramesh Gupta, owner of Agarwal Sweets who witnessed the accident, the bus was being rashly driven and it crashed into the stationary two-wheelers, dragging the victims along.

A BMW car was also damaged when its driver tried to stop the bus by pulling up in front of it.

Commuters alleged that bus driver Javed, who is now in police custody, was driving under the influence of liquor.

Angry residents stopped the bus and smashed its windows. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to control the crowd. A few commuters, travelling in other buses, were hurt when the irate mob pelted stones.
