Frequent inspection of rail track sought

CHENNAI: State unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party L. Ganesan has asked the Railways to conduct frequent checks of track to avoid accidents.

In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that of late there had been frequent reports of rail fracture in the State, delaying trains. The administration’s claim that it was a normal phenomenon could not be accepted as it involved safe operation of trains. Introduction of more trains without ascertaining the strength of the track was said to be one of the reasons for the fracture. — Special Correspondent
