CITU flays police action in Cuddalore

CHENNAI: The CITU on Tuesday condemned police action against workers of Pioneer Chemicals in Cuddalore SIPCOT, who staged a demonstration on Monday demanding trade union rights.

In a statement here, CITU general secretary A. Soundararajan said 30 workers were injured in the lathi charge while district secretary G. Sukumaran sustained injuries in an eye. He urged the State government to withdraw the cases filed against the workers and release them from jail. — Special Correspondent
